Soooooo I'm back! After an inappropriately long absence (I have no excuse, may I add), I'm back and ready to write! (That last statement was kind of corny........ ahh whatever!) So I'm back, for the third time, and I finally have something to bring to the table. So you know I have good friends and a great life, but now to add to it, I'M ACTUALLY IN A BAND! Blindside! You definitely didn't see that coming....you did......oh sorry if you already knew. But yes I'm in a band called Everything or Nothing, I play guitar and sing in this wonderful group! And we actually sound good! That's the kicker. This whole band thing has opened my eyes about music, songwriting, and lifestyle. I still write songs at ungodly hours in the morning, but that's who I am, and I can't change that! But yeah, I just wanted everyone to know that I'm still alive and in a band!

Writing Hiatus, Memories, and THE MUSIC CREW
SO, it's about time that I write some more (after being asked many times by different people). I apologize for my 4 day hiatus, it's because I'm trying to enjoy the last few days of my summer. Yes, I start school on Tuesday, after Labor Day and I'm not that upset to be honest. This is because 1. I've had the best summer of my life and 2. I want the year to go by fast and to get school over and done with.
As my summer comes to a close, I look back on what was good, what was bad, and what made me laugh for hours on end. The way I like to look back at memories, is through music. They keep safe in my head until I channel them through a song. For instance, if you read my friend Claire's blog (Escape This Reality by Claire ) you will notice that she brings up the Music Crew of 2013 (or just the Music Crew). This AMAZING group of people consists of yours truly, Claire, Caellum (CKWriterman, the writer of another amazing blog called For Lack of A Better Name), Emma, Zoe, Mike, Leanne, and Tiernan. Even though I am the most recent member of this great group of friends they make me feel like I've known them for a long time. We, as a group, express our thoughts mostly through music (hence Music Crew) and are all gifted musicians no matter if it's clarinet, guitar, drums, keyboard, or even the human voice we all are gifted individuals. Back to the point, the first time we all got together this summer, we all played music, laughed at stupid inside jokes (from the TV show Supernatural), and took long STRESSFUL golf cart rides. These, unfortunately few, days of summer with these people have been some of the best days of my life and although summer is ending for me, I still have the many new songs on my iPod that will remind me of these few days that we have all been together. I will cherish them and hopefully I will see these people during the school year. I love them all dearly.

Family, Friends, the Pursuit of Happiness, and The Journey to Find Coffee/Caffeine
So today is special out of the ordinary, because I am deathly tired. You may ask why, it's because of my dad's super bright idea of going to get espresso with his son at 8 PM. If you know me, you know that coffee/caffeine is my life source, and yes I know it's bad for you but it's like my method to my madness. When I drink enough coffee during the day, I become more energetic and I start to think more (by thinking I mean song lyric wise and blogging wise).
So, after contemplating my search for coffee/caffeine I decided to just man up and make a pot of coffee myself. So now I start my rant!
My life has been blessed by people who happen to be my favorite people in the world: My friends and my family! They help me get through anything my life throws at me. My family is a mix of Portuguese and Irish people, who all enjoy each others company and individuality. For one, I'm big on my family, because they're family, they're not just a bunch of people I see every now and then. They're my family, like people I'm related to. I love them all individually and they're all very special to me. I'm going on this rant because I see people disrespect and really don't care for their families anymore. It just makes me mad.
On to friends. My friends might be some of the best people in the universe! They're always there for me and I will always be there for them. My friends are a group of individual, talented, funny, gracious, and enthusiastic people, who I love dearly.
The Pursuit of Happiness is the next topic on the agenda. No, before I start talking about it, I'm not talking about the award winning movie starring Will Smith. I'm talking about the Declaration of Independence, Pursuit of Happiness. I believe that happiness is something everybody feels when something good, funny, or amazing happens. And as a person who is usually very happy I'd like to say that everything happens for a reason. Even if people tell you "No reason", there's a reason. My life has been a very happy life, I'm not necessarily saying that I don't experience sadness, but I believe that everybody has their own type of happiness. My happiness is through Family, Music, and Friends. Others find their happiness is just family, or just friends, or a certain day that they experienced. In the end, I brought this up just to say that no matter what, you will find happiness in your heart. Even if you have depression, or you are just a person that doesn't feel as happy as others. Just know that it's somewhere deep down in that heart of yours.
Excuse me while I go write a song about this blog post!

Music, My Life, My Soul, My Everything
My life revolves around music. Ever since I was given my first guitar at the age of 9, it has been my life. Music gets me out of a lot of things. When I'm having a terrible day, music is there to take my troubles away. Whether it's Jack Johnson singing about how delighted to be with his love in Hawaii; or if it's John Mayer singin' the blues. I always have music on my side.
As a songwriter and guitarist, music is my way of life. I can write whatever is on my mind, fix it a little, make it rhyme (only sometimes) and then throw a chord progression with it. Songs that are written by the heart are usually the ones that people want to hear. For instance, I wrote a song the other day called Embers in which I intend to finish. I want to finish it because I wrote it at 4 in the morning while chatting with a very good friend of mine (she has a blog, look up Escape This Reality by Claire). But besides the point, the conversation we had sparked ideas in my head and I wrote them down. I finished the lyrics only recently and I sent them to her. She loved them, and that's when I decided to hold on to the lyrics and start to write a melody around them. The support from my friends is what fuels me for my songwriting and without them I think I would just be another kid playing guitar on his own. So this for you: Mike, Claire, Zoe, Emma, Leanne, Caellum, and Tiernan. I love you guys and without you I wouldn't be the person I am today without you 7 amazing people. Thank you so much for coming into my life and helping me become what I never thought I could be.
